Pigments for Paints & Coatings

Kolortek supplies decorative and functional effect pigments for architectural, industrial, automotive, and specialty coatings. Whether you're formulating a water-based architectural paint, a high-temperature powder coating, or a premium automotive refinish, our portfolio covers the full spectrum of visual effects — from subtle pearlescent luster and metallic brilliance to dynamic color-shifting chameleon effects, holographic sparkle, glow-in-dark functionality, and thermochromic or photochromic color change.

Effect Technology & Visual Range

Our pearlescent pigments — built on natural mica, synthetic mica (fluorphlogopite), or borosilicate glass substrates — deliver interference colors that shift with viewing angle. This is an inherent optical phenomenon, not a defect. Interference pigments are semi-transparent by design; in our application lab, we recommend applying them over white or light base coats, or blending with opaque colorants, to maximize hiding power and color saturation. Metallic pigments, including aluminum silver pastes and copper-zinc gold bronze powders (200–1500 mesh), provide classic mirror-like brilliance and rich metallic tones. For formulators seeking maximum impact, we offer chameleon pigments with dramatic color travel, holographic diffraction effects, and ultra-saturated Intense Chroma colors.

Product Series Overview

KT-100 Silver White Series is our universal white pearl, available in particle sizes from 5–25 μm (fine satin) to 40–200 μm (bold flash). KT-200 Interference Series covers Gold, Red, Violet, Blue, and Green interference colors. KT-300 Gold Series and KT-500 Metal Luster Series deliver iron oxide-based gold and rich bronze-to-mauve metallic tones with excellent weatherability for facade and automotive applications. KT-6000 Multicolor Series uses inorganic absorption colorants (Iron Oxide, Iron Blue, Carbon Black, Carmine) for a full spectrum of saturated colors.

For premium decorative coatings, the KT-7000 Synstar Series (synthetic mica substrate) offers brighter, cleaner effects than natural mica, while the KT-8000 DreamStar Series (borosilicate glass) provides maximum sparkle and diamond-like transparency. The KT-9000 Magic Chameleon Series, along with Aurora Powders, Chromashift, and Nebula pigments, delivers multi-angle color-shifting effects for accent walls, specialty furniture, and luxury packaging.

We also supply functional pigments: strontium aluminate-based glow-in-dark pigments for safety coatings and wayfinding systems; thermochromic pigments (BPA-free options available) for temperature-responsive applications; photochromic pigments for UV-responsive color change; and fluorescent pigments for high-visibility safety markings. For formulators navigating evolving ECHA classifications, we offer TiO₂-free pearl options in our KT-SS0300 series and iron oxide gold grades.

Applications & System Compatibility

These pigments are compatible with acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, polyurethane, nitrocellulose, and UV-curable formulations in both solvent-based and water-based systems. Typical dosage ranges from 1–20% by weight depending on desired effect intensity. Our pigments withstand powder coating curing at 180–200 °C and meet the chemical stability requirements (pH 5–9) of modern low-VOC and water-based architectural paints. Application methods include spray, roll, trowel, and dip-coating; finer particle sizes are required for spray applications, while coarse grades suit roller or cast coatings.
