Pigments for Arts & Crafts

The arts and crafts market demands something industrial coatings rarely require: instant visual drama with zero formulation complexity. Crafters, artists, and hobbyists work with epoxy resin, acrylic pours, candle wax, soap bases, and polymer clay — often without mixing equipment or technical training. The pigments we supply to this category are engineered to perform in exactly those conditions: easy dispersion, consistent color, and effects that genuinely stop people in their tracks.

Effects and Technologies

Our arts and crafts pigment portfolio covers the full spectrum of optical effects. The KT-100 Silver White Series delivers clean pearlescent shimmer across three particle-size ranges — fine (5–25 μm) for smooth textures in slime and soap, medium (10–60 μm) for balanced sparkle in acrylic pours, and coarse (60–200 μm+) for dramatic glitter-like flash in resin art. The KT-200 Interference Series (Gold, Red, Violet, Blue, Green) produces angle-dependent color that shifts on dark substrates — a behavior that makes chameleon and color-shift effects particularly striking in resin jewelry and fluid art. The KT-9000 Chameleon Series extends this further, with four-color and multi-color shift options available from 5–25 μm up to 100–250 μm.

Beyond pearlescent, the range includes holographic pigments for prismatic rainbow effects, glow-in-the-dark and fluorescent powders for educational and novelty applications, thermochromic pigments (including a 31 °C activation variant suited to skin-contact crafts), mirror and metallic powders including KT Metasilver flakes in sizes from 10–100 μm to 300–3000 μm, and an extensive glitter range — regular, laser, biodegradable cellulose and PLA grades, and specialty shapes including stars, strips, and 3 mm diamond forms.

Compatible Media and Dosage Guidance

These pigments are formulated to disperse readily into epoxy resin, UV resin, wax, acrylic medium, soap base, polymer clay, and nail products — without milling or high-shear equipment. In our application work, we typically recommend 1–10% loading in resin art, 0.5–2% in candle wax (fine grades only, to protect wicks), and 5–20% in acrylic pouring medium where pearl and interference pigments can drive dramatic cell formation when used with silicone oil. For slime and skin-contact crafts, cosmetic-grade grades at 0.5–3% loading are the right starting point.

Safety, Compliance, and Sustainability

Skin-contact applications — soap, lotion bars, slime, nail art — require cosmetic-grade pigments, and we supply the supporting composition documents needed to confirm compliance with EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and applicable US FDA color-additive frameworks. All product lines are manufactured under strict heavy metal controls, with typical levels below major international regulatory thresholds for cosmetics and consumer goods. For sustainability-conscious product lines, we offer biodegradable cellulose and PLA glitters, TiO₂-free pearlescent options, and BPA-free thermochromic formulations.

Why Work with Kolortek

With over 20 years of effect pigment manufacturing experience, we maintain one of the broadest arts and crafts pigment portfolios available from a single source — pearlescent, chameleon, holographic, mirror, glow, thermochromic, glitter, and large-format mica flakes, all under one roof. We offer craft-specific sample kits, custom color matching, and direct access to our application team for formulation guidance. OEM, ODM, and private label services are available, with small-batch orders accommodated for customers developing new product lines.

  • Bulk mica powder for resin art includes pearlescent pigments (KT-100 to KT-500 series), chameleon color-shift effects (KT-9000 series), holographic powders, and biodegradable glitters optimized for epoxy and UV resin systems. At Kolortek, we supply craft grade mica bulk in particle sizes from 5–25 μm for smooth shimmer to 100–250 μm for dramatic sparkle, with dosage recommendations of 1–10% by weight depending on effect intensity. Our resin art pigment wholesale catalog includes over 300 effect options designed for easy hand-mixing without specialized equipment.
